2010 Lorne and Kathy-Lu's Update #36
posted by Lorne & Kathy-Lu White 04:16 PM Sun Sep 05 2010
We have recently updated the description of our ministry on our website and posted new photos.  We invite you to check it out.

Thank-you for the many words of encouragement and for your continued prayers for Kathy-Lu as she recovers.  She has been home one week today, and as is common following major surgery during the week has had some ups and downs.  This included some consultations with doctors to handle concerns related to medications and their side effects.  Please pray that through it all God will bring glory to His name.

Ethan looks to register and begin classes this week at University of the Fraser Valley, continuing his studies toward a degree in business.  Please pray that God will help him with his studies and give him some good friends among his fellow students.

This week, please remember to pray for Chinh and Mary Dang.  In addition to Taiwanese language learning, they are ministering to Vietnamese ladies living in Taichung with their families.  For example, Chinh and Mary visited Mai and her family.  Mai came to Taiwan 13 years ago.  She and her Taiwanese husband have two beautiful daughters aged 13 and 11.  Because there is no son to continue the family line, Mai’s mother-in-law six years ago forced her son to divorce his wife.  Now, Mai struggles to earn a living to support herself and her daughters.  The Dangs were able to share from God’s Word and pray for her.  Please pray that Mai and her daughters will soon come to know the Lord.

2010 Lorne and Kathy-Lu's Update #35

Thanks for all your encouragement and prayers on our behalf over the past week.  It has been a fantastic journey as Kathy-Lu entered the hospital for heart valve surgery on Wednesday morning (Aug 25) and was released from hospital to recover at home on Sunday evening (Aug 29).  You can follow some of our experiences by reading the reports at http://taiwanwhites.blogspot.com

We had asked for you to pray for wisdom for the surgeon as he decided whether to repair or replace the valve.  We are extremely pleased that he opted for a longer and more difficult surgery and repaired the valve.  Now we will trust God to promote the healing and give longevity to the repaired heart valve.

Please pray that Kathy-Lu will be able to keep up with the recommended regimen of exercises and activities, cautiously remembering to avoid some habitual movements that might hinder healing if done in the early part stages of recovery.  This is her new challenge.

Although Elyssa had a very busy week with many extracurricular activities and concerns about her Mom's situation, she was able to keep up with the heavy homework load.  Please pray for her as she continues to adjust to the demands of being a grade 12 student.
2010 Lorne and Kathy-Lu's Update #34

POSTPONED:  Kathy-Lu’s scheduled surgery has been postponed 24 hours and is now scheduled for Wednesday, August 25.  Thank-you for continuing to pray for wisdom for the surgeon and for the complete healing process.

Please pray for Yuanfang and Mark as they visit contacts in our home town of Baojhong.  Pray for opportunities to share God’s love and power as they visit these friends.

We have learned that Yuanfang’s English name is Peter.  If that helps, you may use it when you remember to pray for him as he studies at the Bible School and helps in our rural church planting work on weekends.  We praise God that the school has agreed to allow him to continue to assist us during the coming school year.
