WELCOME!

We hope, that as you read and become a participant in praying for the work in Taiwan, your heart will be encouraged.  We have a wonderful God who loves all the people of the world, including the Taiwanese.

Lorne & Elyssa, Spring 2005Kathy-Lu with Ethan (R) and Philip (L) - Spring 2005Please feel free to continue to browse our website. You can also write to us.  We love to receive mail, and are glad to correspond with any who wish to do so.

Where are we?

We are currently living in Yunlin County, in Baojhong Township.

By Taiwan standards Baojhong is a small community.  It is 4.2 kilometers east to west, and 8.823 kilometers north to south, for a total of area 37.052 square kilometers.

The 14,852 residents live in 9 villages.  Although some people operate small businesses, most rely on farming for their livelihood.

The area is still experiencing an economic downturn, so many students and young workers spend most of their time in one of Taiwan's larger cities.

Currently there are 15 registered temples (14 Taoist and 1 Buddhist).  There are an additional 15 unregistered temples that the Township Office is aware of.  The Roman Catholic Church has a building not far from where we live, but they no longer hold services.  The only Christian church has less than 20 members and is located in one of the farming villages, about 2.5 km from the township centre.

Our desire is that a church can be established near the township centre, a more accessible location for area residents.  Will you pray with us that God will help establish His church in Baojhong Township, providing a witness to this area of Taiwan.
